DETOX 2012 - Day 3

So day three went well.  It was good to get back on the horse after falling off and having Pizza the night before.  It was a good day also.  I spent the entire day very energized and ready to tackle things.  Little frustrated as my sugars were on a yo-yo today, but hey that is what I get for treating my body so bad for so long.  I know that keeping it going will do me better.

Once I am 15 days in, I plan on booking some fun spa treatments.  Not the typical ones that you could think of.  I am gonna try some alternative detox management treatments.  These will include things like Colon HydroTherapy, ION Footbaths, Far-Infared Sauna, and Dry Skin Brushing.  There is a location about 2blocks (walking distance) that I can get these done.  http://www.nhwellnesscenters.com/ You should check them out also.

The other cool part is that I am reading alot more.  I used to love to read, but have stopped for some reason.  I am reading through the Primal Blueprint and really loving the great advise.  I ordered some of the PrimalMeal Replacement to use during the end of the 30 day detox.  I figure since I am going to be consuming my meals in a mostly liquid format that I need to get some good protein and nutrients in and this is a simple way.

So here are the stats:

  • Start Sugar: 297 (HOLY CRAP BATMAN)
  • End Sugar: 196 (ok, I guess)
  • Solid Foods Eaten: Pistachios
  • Water: 96oz
  • Tea: 32oz
  • Weight: still over scale limits

So, onward to day 4 and the joys it will bring.  I have not had ANY caffeine though for the last 3 days and I am waiting for the detox of the caffeine to kick in.  Either my system is so heavy loaded with caffeine that it is taking time to kick-in or the tea (yes I drink one cup of green tea a day) is enough to stave off the effects of full withdrawl.  We will see what happens as we edge closer to the end of the year.

DETOX 2012 - Day 2

Today was rough!  I got really sick and vomitted a few times.  I think that it was related to a bad set of tea or MAJOR detox affect.  Anyway I managed to make it until 6pm and then I needed to eat something (to get rid of the vomit taste) so we ordered Pizza (not a great choice I know) and it turned out BAD: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Straw-Hat-Pizza-Fairfax-VA/206239042763836?sk=friendactivity

So, most of my stats will be off today.

  • Start Sugar: 224
  • End Sugar: 169
  • Water: 64oz
  • Tea: 32oz

I am looking forward to getting back on the bandwagon again tomorrow.  I know this was a temporary issue and I am sure that I can power through it for the rest of the week.  Still encouraged by the sugar levels being very normalized.

So look for a longer, and more encouraging post tomorrow.

DETOX 2012 - Day 1

Detox Day 1

So, day one is in the books and I am heading off to bed.  Today was a good day.  Overall if they are all like this then I am going to be perfectly fine.  I fully understand that as my system starts dumping, then the effects will start flaring up and it will get rough.

Each day I promised some data.  As you can see the above photo is how I look at the end of day one just in the face.  Each day I will take a new photo so you can see how things are going.

Here are the days details:

  • Water: 96oz
  • Tea: 64oz
  • Food: 1 bite of a bagel, 2TB of Peanut Butter
  • Weight: Scale reads MAX of 440lbs (I am over that)
  • Start Blood Sugar: 267
  • End Blood Sugar: 106
  • Injected Insulin: NONE! (WOW!)
  • Activity: No gym today as I got a late start on the night with New Years Eve.  I did wash the dishes, pickup the kitchen, clean out the fridge of any food that will spoil in the next 30 days and take 4 bags of trash out.
  • Sleep: 5.5hrs

So, I am ready for the next day and feeling good.  Tomorrow I am setting the alarm for 5:45am (nearly 8hrs from now) and going to the gym to walk on treadmill for about 30min.  What I was the most intrigued about by the results of today is the way that without ANY injectable insulin my blood sugars fully normalized.  This means that alot of my control for Diabetes can be done with diet and not only with drugs.  This is so encouraging to me as I am starting to feel like I am loosing the fight with the blood sugars and just waiting for some massive issue to arise.

So, off to bed and arise happy and ready to tackle another day.  Tomorrow I am going to start having protein shakes during the lunch hour so we will see how the extra protein and sugars affect me.  I am optimistic though that this is the right choice for me for the next 30 days.

Keep me in your prayers though.

New Years Resolution

Each year everyone goes through and makes new years resolutions.  Most are get healthy, read a book, kiss the wife more etc etc…  How many times do you sit down and really evaluate the choice of resolutions you make and decide if they matter.

For 2012, my resolution is simple and annoying that it is so simple.

“Lord, teach me to see with your eyes and not mine!”

I want to see not only myself, but others and the priorities in this world through the eyes of my Lord and Saviour.

  • How does GOD view me and my worth vs how I do?
  • How does GOD view my actions in public and private vs how I do?
  • What is the impact GOD chooses for me to have vs myself?

So, through that lens I choose to view my world.  I desire that GOD shape me and mold me to the person that he saw at the birth of time, and chose to die on a cross for all the wrongs I will commit.  I choose to honor that love he gave to me, and allow him to show it to me.

What is your lens in life?  Are you still caught up in the world, and how you impact it, or how it impacts you?  Have you stopped and thought about how your life would be different if you looked internally and externally through GODs eyes?

So, whatever new years resolution you have made this year may it be a life changing event or idea in your life, as that is the purpose of a resolution.

2012 A New Start

So my wife and I are kicking off 2012 with a new diet and movement regime.  To start we are going to do 30 days of NO solid foods.  Why no solid foods for 30 days?  Well, one of the main reasons is to DETOX from the massive influx of foods that has been ingested for the last 45 days due to birthdays, holidays and parties.  Giving our bodies these 30 days to DETOX and catch up with the lifestyle that we put it through is crucial.

So, what will we be doing during the 30 days?   Life will continue as normal, we just will not be eating food.  We will be having smoothies and protein drinks for the entire month.  Again, giving our bodies a rest from the toll that processing the processed foods we have ingested.

Another reason that I am doing this is for weight loss.  While it is not a suggested weight loss pattern to hold to, it will help to break my bodies addiction to some of the poor food choices I make.  I know that my body is HARD addicted to caffeine and fast foods. The quick jump from these, coupled with the simple fat sensation that you get from fast food is addicting and I am addicted.  So, I am taking steps to take my body back.

The final reason for doing this is financial.  My wife and I are saving for a new car, house and building our business.  Currently our food budget it OUT OF CONTROL and so we want to reign that in.  Doing this will cause us to spend less this month then we do in a average WEEK! (yes I said that).  This will help us to mentally see the error of the food budget we have and to appeciate the fact that we do not need to consume the volumes.

So, look for me to be posting photos of the before, and then each sunday I will post new photos so you can see the progress.  I will also be daily writing about what I consumed and how I feel.  The report will go like this.

Food Eaten:

Mood:

AVG Blood Sugar:

AVG Blood Pressure:

Sleep:

Thoughts:

As you can see I need to watch my blood sugars being Diabetic, and being that I have had 6 minor heart attacks in my life (all within 30-60min on one day) I need to watch my blood pressure.

So, here is to a NEW START for 2012, and moving forward with a new lifestyle.

Good to bad in 30oz or less

So, today was fun.  I woke up to the sound of my wife trying to get her microphone working on her computer.   This should have been my first clue this would be a fun day.  After about 15min of playing around with the mic it was not clear why the machine was playing feedback to the mic at all times.  We switched to her mac, and all went well.

Next my wife decided she needed some Starbucks and took off to get some of her life juice.  She happened to swing by our favorite pizza place called Strawhat and pick up lunch YEAH!

As soon as she got home she set her pizza (small gluten free with beef, mushrooms, onions, garlic and pepporoni) on her desk she dumps the ENTIRE cup of coffee on the desk.  Needless to say this set off a really bad case of panic as it was dripping off the desk, and was heading for her main tower machine (i7, 16GB ram, SSD HD and dual ATI video cards).  She also had a LOT of papers on the desk from work she has been doing for clients.  The papers are GONE!, but the computer got saved by their sacrifice.

So, that is the first 4hrs of today, lets see how the rest of the day will go.  I am sure that we can find some other calamity to bring into the day today.

On a fun note, I managed to rewire my tower machine today which now that I think about it was silly as I planning on putting a water cool system into the case today.  So, the 90min that I spent doing that will be all for not in a few minutes.  I guess that is just par for the course for today though.

Time to pop open a 240z Diet Pepsi and read a book I think. This day just refuses to be good.
